The history of the wedding cake dates back to Ancient Rome when the groom would break a loaf of bread over his bride’s head as a symbol of good fortune. Today, bread crumbs aside, wedding cakes have become a staple element, and quite the treat, during wedding ceremonies and receptions. Below, we have shared a few wedding cake trends that can help make the cake design or selection process just a bit easier.
Timeless & Tiered with a Twist
White, tiered weddings cakes were considered a luxury symbol of status in earlier centuries. To honor this “something old” tradition while adding a sweet touch of “something new,” the smooth, chic cake in the left photo above has our lovely KEIRA garden rose inserted between the elevated tiers, providing pale pink and cream hues to this soft color palette. On the right, petal tones of old gold, warm peach, soft yellow and deep rose pink in our EDITH wedding rose bring a touch of fresh romance to an ornate, traditional cake.
